About JU Summer Research Internship Program:

Jiangnan University, situated in Wuxi by beautiful Taihu Lake, is a national key “211 Project” university and is selected into “First-Class Discipline Project”, falling under the Ministry of Education.

The university, with the area of 208 hectares, consists of 18 schools and is the home to 3,410 staff and faculty members, 21,260 full-time undergraduates, 13,330 postgraduates and 308 international students.

According to ESI, Jiangnan University ranks No.57 in China and our 10 disciplines (agricultural science, engineering, chemistry, biology&biochemistry, materials science, clinical medicine, computer science, pharmacology and toxicology, environment and ecology, microbiology) fall within the top 1% globally and agricultural science is in 0.12‰.

In this International Summer Research Internship Program, participating students will have a hands-on research experience with a host faculty member (and other students in the lab).

 

Duration of the Program: 4 to 8 weeks between June and August, 2024. (The detailed internship dates need to be confirmed with host faculty)

 

2024 Host Faculty Members:

36 professors are willing to host international students with projects in the School of Food Science, School of Biotechnology, School of Chemical and Material Engineering, School of Environment and Ecology, School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, School of Design, School of Life Sciences and Health Engineering, School of Internet of Things Engineering and School of Textile Science and Engineering. Please view the attached document with each professor and research subject indicated and select up to 2-3 faculty members that you would like to work with in your application.（See the attachment）

 

Tuition Fee, Accommodation and Other Information:

*Tuition fee: Students applying for 2024 summer program are exempted from Tuition fee charges.

 

*Accommodation: 

1. Changguangxi Hotel (At the northwest corner of campus)

·       Price: 300 RMB/night (excluding breakfast), 338 RMB/night (including breakfast)

2. International Student Dormitory (On campus)

·       Price: 50 RMB/night, Single Room (with toilet, air-conditioner, water-heater, TV, telephone, internet)

·       On campus dormitory needs to be applied, and depends on the vacancies

 

** Jiangnan University could help with participating students to apply for the accommodation. All accommodation fees will be paid by the students.

 

*Meals:

Four canteens are available for meals on campus. Jiangnan University will help to prepare for a meal card for on campus dining. Participating students could put a deposit in the meal card to dine in the canteens. Students could also dine at nearby Shopping Mall restaurants.

 

Eligibility:

To be accepted to the International Summer Research Internship Program, students must show demonstrated interest in the research field of the host faculty member.

 

How to Apply:

Please email the APPLICATION FORM, together with ENROLLMENT CERTIFICATE in home institution, RECOMMENDATION LETTER from professor and PASSPORT COPY to Ms. Yawen WU at wuyw@jiangnan.edu.cn before 20^th March, 2024.

Students will be informed whether they are accepted or not by 1^st April, 2024.

 

Visa Requirements:

Participating students are suggested to apply for X visa (student visa) for the research internship program at Jiangnan University.

Step 1: Students need to apply for DQ form.

Step 2: It takes at least one month to get the DQ form and Jiangnan University will send it to the students.

Step 3: Students apply for Student Visa (X) at a local Chinese Embassy/Consulate Office with the DQ form and Acceptance letter issued by Jiangnan University.

 

**The International Office of Jiangnan University will help with visa documents for the research program.
